In order to let you clearly follow what I am to talking in the following,I must clarify that my discussion on difficulties in translating this short novel is based Functionalist Approaches suggested by Christiane Nord,who emphasizes the purpose and effects of the translation and any translation should conform to its purpose.In order to find difficulties in translating,the whole novel has been translated.Here,three long paragraphs,paragraph 36,77 and 132,are selected as examples to illustrate my translation problems.Two kinds of difficulties are to be stated in the following parts-difficulties caused by objective and subjective factors.
