辛亥革命是近代史学界的一个大题目,在我的记忆中,每逢五逢十的纪念,史学界总会开一个规模很大的学术讨论会,出若干册讨论文集。但是,这个大题目,却不见得因此做得特别好,总有些问题,海峡两岸都拎不清。近代晚近一点的历史表明,在某种程度上,辛亥革命,已经成为一个符号性的事件,怎么研究,都难以逾越符号划定的雷池半步。
The Revolution of 1911 is a big topic in the field of modern history. In my memory, every five-ten commemoration, historians and scholars always hold a large-scale symposium and publish a few volumes of theses. However, this major issue does not necessarily have to be done particularly well. There are always some problems and the two sides of the Taiwan Strait can not carry it. The recent history of modern times shows that to some extent, the Revolution of 1911 has become a symbolic event. How to study it is hard to surpass the symbolic delineation.
