苏州水泥厂28周岁以下的青年工人有112人,占全厂职工的18%。这些青年工人,绝大部分对社会主义四个现代化的光明前景,充满希望和信心,要求进步,想做有理想、有道德、有文化、守纪律的社会主义一代新人,希望党支部、团委、工会指路、领头和具体帮助。但也有少数青年工人思想摇摆不定,缺乏远大理想和奋斗目标,工作上怕脏怕累,生活上讲求享受,把业余时间浪费在吃喝玩乐之
