Recently, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical School has obtained two new achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. One is the telomerase assay for the early detection of tumors created by the Center for Genetic Diagnosis in the hospital. The method detects cancer cells in one-hundredth of monocytes by detecting the patient’s peripheral blood. Telomerase is composed of RNA and protein, and after the activation, the cells will malignantly proliferate. The detection rate of telomerase in malignant tumors is as high as 84%-95%.
