意外探测出一座巨型陪葬坑 1996年9月,陕西临潼陈村农民在村边挖坑取土时,发现了坚硬的红色土块。考古人员对这种情况十分重视,便用“洛阳铲”钻探出许多红烧土、木板灰、夯土等物,引起专家们的高度重视。于是,决定由秦陵考古队对其周围进行普探,到1998年9月陆续开了几处探方,进行试掘,弄清了这是一座相当于两个足球场面积的巨型陪葬坑,它东西长129、南北宽128米,比秦俑坑中规模最大的一号坑的面积还要大。
