The cause of Lyme was first discovered in Lyme, Connecticut, USA. Since its discovery in the United States in 1977, the disease has spread rapidly and has so far been found in all 50 states and has become one of the most commonly transmitted communicable diseases known as “Second AIDS.” At present, there are case reports in more than 30 countries and regions on five continents. Since the discovery of Lyme disease in Hailin County, Heilongjiang Province for the first time in 1986, China has successively discovered in 21 provinces and municipalities including Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia.
