On August 5, China Overseas Property published a group of announcements, saying that Kong Qingping, who had been working for the company for over 20 years, resigned as the executive director as well as the chairman of the directorate. His place was taken by Hao Jianmin, Vice Chairman of Directorate and President of the company.
Kong Qingping, 58, joined in China Overseas Property in 1994. He started to work as the Chairman of Directorate in 2005. After that he also worked as the Chairman of Directorate of China State Construction International.
According to the information from China Overseas Property, Kong Qingping chose to leave this time mainly for the demand of assets and business adjustment inside the company. After his resignation, he is going to move to China State Construction as the Vice General Manager and is likely to promote the integration of the real estate business of China State Construction.
Unlike other property tycoons always in the center of the limelight, Kong Qingping is a lowkey person. In 2010, when Wang Shi built Wanke into the first property company in China with the market value of RMB 100 billion, Kong Qingping silently increased the profits of China Overseas Property to RMB 10 billion, defending its name as the most lucrative property company in China. Even Wanke admitted that its biggest rival is China Overseas Property.
An insider from China Overseas Property says that Hao Jianmin is even more low-profile and practical than Kong Qingping. He is very good at cost control and international capital operation. China Overseas Property established a positive example for all property companies in China in terms of cost control, which was largely attributed to Hao Jianmin.
