饮水消毒是预防肠道传染病的措施之一,目前应用最广泛的饮水消毒剂是漂白粉,而测定漂白粉的有效氯含量,是正确掌握药量的重要环节。以往实验室所用的碘量法,需要分析天平和四种液体试剂,手续较烦,不便携带;光电比色法和试管比色法使测定手续简化,但在基层单位应用也较困难;蓝墨水法、维生素C法由于颜色的影响以及原理等问题也尚需继续研究。
