According to figures released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the Japanese government owes 656 trillion yen of existing debt, 130% of GDP, 51.7% higher than that of the United States and 73.4% of the European Union. It can be said that the Japanese government has more debt than Mount Fuji . So what is the impact of so many debts on the Japanese economy? I. Debts and Fiscal Policies After World War II, the Keynesian theory of stimulating the economy and increasing employment by issuing government bonds was viewed by Western countries as a panacea for preventing economic recession and stimulating economic growth. All countries in the world have embarked on a large number of steps in order to get rid of the shadow the war has cast on economic development as soon as possible
