盐亭县肿瘤防治研究所自1971年成立以来，与中国医学科学院基础所和肿研所、华西医大、四川省肿研所等30多家医疗科研单位、大专院校的科研人员协作，深入现场，对盖亭县农村居民进行了有关食管癌的病因调查、动物实验等。盐亭食管癌的病因研究工作曾纳入国家科委“八五”攻关

The research on the cause of esophageal cancer in Yanting was included in the “8th Five-Year Plan” of the State Science and Technology Commission.
