1989年,英国的跳舞音乐当中首次出现RAVE MUSIC(怒吼音乐)的字眼。1990年5月,名为“歇斯底里”的RAVE音乐会在伦敦举行,此后一直采取单个乐队独奏的形式,主要在室内舞场进行,乐队成员身着奇装异服,配台激光射灯和夸张布景制造眩目效果,引发观众的跳舞热情。1992年,RAVE发展成为多个乐队在多个舞台同时演出的大型室外音乐活动,会场气氛更加疯狂。1994年6月,1995年除夕以及1996年6月,英国相继举行了三场大规模的RAVE音乐会,乐队和观众蜂拥而至,人们载歌载舞,互不干扰好不热闹,宣告RAVE浮出水面,所谓RAVE GRNERATION(怒吼一代)诞生,
