朱德、陈毅、叶剑共既是中国现代著名的无产阶级革命家、政治家、军事家，也是才华横溢、留下了丰富诗作的共和国元帅诗人，。漫长的军旅生涯，是无帅创作诗歌的肥沃土壤；从事高级领导工作，使元帅诗蕴含极浓的政治因素；反映战争、怀念先烈、歌颂党和人民、讴歌社会主义祖国、领略异域风情为其诗作的基本题材；而以现实主义为主兼有浪漫主义色彩则构成了元帅诗歌的共同的艺术特色。
