西部大开发是以江泽民同志为首的党中央根据邓小平同志“两个大局”的战略构想作出的重大决策,它的根本宗旨就是“兴边富民”。因此,实施这一战略,对于西部地区的发展和各民族人民的共同富裕,对于增进民族团结和增强中华民族凝聚力都具有十分重大和深远的意义。
The great development of the western region is a major policy decision made by Comrades Jiang Zemin under the strategic concept of “two overall plans” made by Comrade Deng Xiaoping. Its fundamental purpose is “to prosper the prosperous side and enrich the people.” Therefore, the implementation of this strategy will be of great and far-reaching significance to the development of the western region and the common prosperity of the people of all ethnic groups in promoting national unity and enhancing the cohesion of the Chinese nation.
