鸡瘟是由鸡瘟病毒侵入鸡体后引起的一种疫病。当鸡瘟病毒侵入鸡体后,即随着血液循环和淋巴腺系统传播到全身,并大量繁殖。在鸡的血液、内脏、脑脊髓、骨髓内都有病毒存在,因此,病鸡与病鸡的分泌物、粪便所污染过的饲料、饮水、用具等都能够传播病毒,引起鸡瘟传染。得了病的鸡,最急性的很快死亡,看不到明显的症状。一般是发病初期体温升高达43—44℃(鸡的正常体温为40—41℃),精神萎顿,不愿走动,口腔和鼻腔分泌出
