There have been two parallel trends in post-war world economy: globalism and regionalism. The former manifests itself in the integration of the world economy, especially in the internationalization of production and trade. The latter manifests itself in the development of regional integration, especially of regional economic groups. The relationship between these two trends is inconclusive, but what is certain is that these two parallel trends will equally determine the development of the world economy after the Cold War and will have a broad and far-reaching impact on every country.
