The “Large-caliber Weapons Laboratory” owned by the “Army Weaponry Research and Development Center” evaluated the titanium-boron coating on the barrel bore surface. In the study, a lower layer of titanium-boron (TiB 2) intermetallic compound was coated on AISI 4140 steel and AISI 4130 steel by a relatively low-temperature electron deposition process that is not harmful to the steel substrate. The above samples in the United States, “Army Weapons Ammunition and Chemical Products Command” closed explosive using laboratory prepared M30 propellant under different pressures ablation resistance evaluation test. The results show that the ablation rate of samples with Ti-B coatings is significantly faster than that of steel.
