一个人,在为人处世过程中,如果能以宽容之心对待别人,宽容别人的同时,也能为自己创造一个机会;反之,如果不能对别人宽容以待,也许就给自己制造了麻烦。刘毅是东晋北府兵将领,公元405年,刘毅大败对手桓蔚,为躲避追兵,逃进了牛牧寺,寺僧释昌将桓蔚藏了起来,捡了一条命。后来,刘毅得知了事情经过,下令将寺僧释昌杀掉了。公元412年,刘毅与刘裕交战,结果被杀得大败,他在深夜骑马奔逃,竟然也逃进了牛牧寺,并求僧人允许他躲避一下追兵,但僧人们有了前车之鉴,坚决不同意。刘毅走投无路,长叹一声说:“唉,我自己制订的执法标准,竟然伤害到了自己,看来,是天亡我也!”说罢,便上吊自杀了。
