《红字》是美国19世纪著名浪漫主义作家纳撒尼尔·霍桑(Nathaniel Hawthorne)的代表作品。《红字》里面的主要人物有海斯特·白兰、阿瑟·丁梅斯代尔、罗杰·奇林沃思、珠儿,霍桑在作品中对这四个主要人物的刻画都展现出不同的生活态度,整部作品体现浓厚的浪漫主义情感,蕴涵霍桑自身宗教观念的矛盾与彷徨。本文主要从《红字》中的几个主要人物解读纳撒尼尔·霍桑的宗教观念。
“Scarlet Letter” is the representative work of famous American romantic writer Nathaniel Hawthorne in the 19th century. The main characters in The Scarlet Letter are Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth, Pearl and Hawthorne, all of which depict these four main characters in their works Different attitude to life, the entire work embodies a strong sense of romanticism, contains Hawthorne’s own religious concepts of contradictions and imitation. This article mainly analyzes the religious conceptions of Nathaniel Hawthorne from several main characters in The Scarlet Letter.
