As with the construction of a sea-crossing bridge, building a subsea tunnel is another feat of man’s natural moat. Worldwide, the official construction of the Cross Harbor Tunnel started in the 1940s and the dreams and attempts of mankind to build the Cross Harbor Tunnel were more than a century earlier than this time - as early as the 19th century Napoleonic era The French envisaged the construction of a tunnel between the British and French Straits and two excavations, but eventually ran aground for technical and war reasons. After more than two centuries, it was not until 1993 that the tunnel was completely completed and put into operation. At present, there are more than 20 cross-harbor tunnels built and built in the world, mainly in Europe, Japan and Hong Kong.
