建国以来,戏曲音乐的改革取得了令人瞩目的成就。早在五十年代初,就出现了如越剧《红楼梦》、黄梅戏《天仙配》等一批在戏曲音乐领域的改革上卓有成效的代表性作品,这些戏中的许多优秀唱段,至今仍在群众中广为传唱。到了六、七十年代,以京剧音乐改革为前导的戏曲音乐改革,更是达到了一定的高度。象《红灯记》、《智取威虎山》、《杜鹃山》等一些现代京剧在戏曲音乐的一系列改革与发展上所取得的许多成功做法,为整个戏曲音乐的改革与发展积累了宝贵的经验。
