The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (1td.) was established in December 1976. The initial listings were cotton, sugar, soybeans and gold. Cotton futures trading was cancelled in October 1981 and soybean trading was suspended in March 1992. Over the years, gold contracts have only been traded in nominal terms.
