Aluminum toxicity hinders root growth and limits the absorption of phosphorus, but also directly affect the effectiveness of chemical phosphorus. A series of experiments were conducted on the acid soils of Gajrug, on the island of West Java, Indonesia, to study the effects of lime materials, lime application levels and crop residues on soil aluminum content and phosphorus availability index. CaCo_3, CaSIO_3 and Ca.Mg (CaCo_3) _2 had no difference in affecting aluminum content and soil pH value. The reduction of exchangeable aluminum due to lime is directly related to the increase of soil pH. The use of straw and corn stover to increase the bound organic aluminum content and reduce the exchangeable aluminum content has little effect on soil pH. Corn straw on this side
