The author believes Japan is not enough to stimulate demand. To get the economy out of old habits, large-scale reforms are necessary. Japan, a country that once set limits for growth, has forgotten how to grow. Most of the recession ended in two or three quarters. But Japan is set to become the only major industrialized nation that suffered a drop in gross domestic product for the third consecutive year in the postwar period. After a 0.4% decline in GDP in fiscal year 1997 (April 1997-March 1998), GDP is projected to decline by 2.5% in fiscal year 1998 (April 1998-March 1999). In fiscal year 1999 (April 1999-March 2000), it is generally expected that there will be a further drop of 0.5-1.5%. Even worse, no one can be confident when the economy will turn around. Amazing with the optimism of the past
