This lot was produced by Chairman Mao to the British statesman Eddie Clement Attlee, when Adelaide was the head of the British Labor party and later became prime minister. This letter marks the earliest exchange between the leaders of the Communist Party and Western politicians and is of historical significance. The letter of the year 1937 on November 1, sent from the northwest of Yan’an City. After Japan made an all-out invasion of China, Yan’an became a base of the Chinese Communist Party. In his letter Mao Zedong showed his solidarity and friendly attitude towards the British people and urged each other to take concrete actions
