Ⅰ.Preface The deep Heishi 黑石 Ditch is located at the easte foot of Changbai Mountain,extending more than ten li to the northeast from the location of a monument which is more than ten li southeast of Tianchi.There are remnants of mounds,both of stone and soil,on its south-easte bank.Scholars have different views on whether these mounds of rubble are the boundary markers made by Mukden in the 51st year (1712) of the Kangxi reign and whether Heishi Ditch is the historical boundary between China and Korea.Generally,Korean scholars argue that Heishi Ditch connects with the upstream section of the Songhua River,which is the import of the inscription on the monument,viz.
