学校体育竞赛贯彻小型多样、单项分散、基层为主、勤俭节约的原则,学校每年至少举行一次以田径项目为主的全校性运动会,学校开展课外活动应该从实际出发、因地制宜、生动活泼。但是,长期以来许多学校的体育竞赛仅限于一年一次的以田径等竞技项目为主的全校性运动会,并且还难以保证。随着全民健身,素质教育等思想的深入,学校这种以田径项目为主的运动会越来越难以适应现代教育思想的要求与发展,表现出诸多弊
