The authors used isotope labeling, molecular hybridization, immunoprecipitation and SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and immunoelectron microscopy and other experimental means to study the existence of Wellcomo (Lagos) strains of Plasmodium falciparum merozoites pairs In a 140,000 molecular weight protein, describes the preparation of the protein, purification, identification and some characteristics. The authors purified the protein from the extract of parasitized erythrocytes by monoclonal antibody affinity chromatography. The protein was found to be synthesized at the merozoite stage of the merozoite and the monoclonal antibody to P. falciparum 61.3
