普遍语法是关于人类内在性语言的理论,这种内在性语言是人类在正常情况下都能获得的。生成语法研究始终以普遍语法为终极目标。近期,生成语法在“更低”的层次上从语言系统和其他生物系统共有的属性上寻找被定义为生物遗传属性的普遍语法,生成语法被纳入生物语言学范畴,向揭示人类语言的起源及进化奥秘的方向迈进。
