金敦·沃德乃民国时期入康藏进行生物学考察研究并在多方面获得巨大成就的外国学者。相关文著对金敦·沃德的研究,主要侧重于其生物学成就以及政治影响,而对其在康藏地区数十年的考察活动经历及其26种著作,大多语焉不详。以其考察原著为主要资料,结合中外学者的相关研究文献,对金敦·沃德在康藏的历次考察过程及交往加以梳理,表列其26种著作情况,对部分著作进行简要译介,能够清晰呈现其在生物、地理、人文等方面的成就,以及其游历考察活动造成的政治影响。
Kingdon-Ward was a foreign scholar who came to Tibet to conduct a biological study in the Republic of China and made great achievements in many aspects. The related literary works on Kingdon-Ward mainly focus on their biological achievements and political influence, but most of them do not know the history of their study in the area of the Tibet Autonomous Region for several decades and their 26 books. Based on the review of the original works as the main data and the related research literature of Chinese and foreign scholars, this paper reviews the historical process and contacts of Kingdon Ward in the past years in Kham Tibetan, and lists 26 kinds of his works. It clearly shows its achievements in biology, geography, humanities and other aspects as well as the political influence caused by its touring activities.
