High manganese steel was invented by Hadfield in 1882 as a carbon steel containing 0.9-1.4% carbon and 10-14% manganese wear resistant steel. It is widely used as wear-resistant parts in machinery manufacturing such as metallurgy, mining, construction, railway and tractor. The equilibrium structure of high manganese steel should be ferrite and carbides, while the as-cast structure under the actual conditions is austenite, carbide and pearlite. Due to the distribution of carbides along the austenite grain boundaries, the strength of as-cast steel decreases and the brittleness increases. The test of as-cast as-cast sample shows that the tensile strength is only 392 ~ 490MPa (40 ~ 50kgf / mm ~ 2)
