Laser cooling of rf-bunched heavy ion beams has already been successfully performed at several storage rings[1]. To prepare the laser cooling experiment at the Experimental Cooler Storage Ring-CSRe, at IMP, a new buncher device was installed and tested with the ion beam of 22Ne10+ at 70 MeV/u in December 2011.
