For a group of die-casting D6 steel often appear eutectic carbide on the phenomenon of excessive, in the process of casting rare earth cerium added. Samples were taken from the billet and steel, and the microstructure of the steel after erosion was observed using an optical microscope. The results show that with the increase of cerium content, the size of eutectic carbide becomes smaller. When the content of cerium in the blank increases from 0.038% to 0.073%, the size of meshes decreases about 50%, the thickness of meshes becomes thinner, and even The net structure is destroyed; the level of eutectic carbide in steel decreases with the increase of cerium content. The refinement of cerium on as-cast microstructure results in the refinement of eutectic carbides in the final product.
