Objective To analyze the dynamic change tendency of the speed and endurance quality of Tibetan primary and middle school students from 1985 to 2010, and provide a scientific basis for taking effective measures to promote Tibetan students’ physical health. Methods According to the survey data of national students’ physique and health from 1985 to 2010, the author made a comparative analysis on the indexes of speed and endurance of Tibetan pupils aged 7-18. Results Between 1985 and 2010, the performance of Tibetans aged 7-18 years increased significantly (P <0.01, male for 0.76s and female for 0.72s), and their performances improved greatly in 1985-1995 and decreased in 2000 On the basis of both male and female students’ grades have improved since 2000. In stamina, the performance of 50m × 8 round trips was significantly improved (P <0.01 for boys and 2.99s for boys and 5.03s for girls), reaching the highest in 25 years in 1995. The scores of boys and girls in 2000 were significantly decreased , A slight improvement since 2000. The performance of boys aged 13 to 18 years remained unchanged at 1 000 m and the performance of girls at 800 m decreased 5.28 seconds (P <0.01). Since 1995, the scores of boys and girls have dropped significantly, especially for girls. Conclusion The speed and quality of Tibetan students improved from 1985 to 2010, but the declining trend of endurance quality of students aged 13 to 18 in recent years is not optimistic. We should fully recognize the reasons for the decline of endurance qualities and take effective measures to improve the overall quality of Tibetan students.
