Modern battlefields require that the participants in the war have an accurate and real-time understanding of where they are. This understanding is essential for obtaining the maximum viability in tactical elements by improving mobility and for accurately and effectively directing firepower to target enemy targets. To meet this need, Singh provides the ANS 2000 land navigation system. It uses a simple, rugged dual gimbal platform, vehicle distance sensors and computer / display devices. It uses a uniform transverse Mercator projection coordinate system to provide information on vehicle position and weapon azimuth. The positioning error is less than 0.25% of the driving distance. Gyro orientation error, generally less than 3mil, when using two-step approximation, can be further reduced to less than 1mil. The system has been prototyped in several prototypes. The military agencies in the United States and other countries have conducted extensive tests on wheeled and tracked vehicles.
