中国联通公司8月16日在北京正式宣布其互联网和数据通信网成功开通。联通公用计算机互联网目前已在127个城市开通专线接入服务,74个城市开通165拨号接入(年底达到229个),此外在数据网基础上开通的IP电话服务也已在58个城市实现。联通公司同时表示,已将数据通信确定为公司重点业务,在资金和人力方面将加大投入。此外,联通还将在信息产业部及其它电信运营商的合作下继续加强其电信网络的互联互通能力。目前在联通数据网平台上组建的业务网包括公用互联网(CNUninet/165)、IP电话网(
China Unicom officially announced the successful opening of its Internet and data communications networks in Beijing on August 16. Unicom’s public computer Internet has now opened its private line access service in 127 cities, with 165 dial-up access (up to 229 at the end of the year) in 74 cities.
