《一对六》(Una per sei)是她在1985年完成的一部中篇力作,曾获斯特雷加小说奖。这部小说的故事围绕一位家庭主妇玛丽亚的突然离家出走而逐步展开。全书结构新颖严谨,语言俏皮活泼,共分七章,每一章均为某一个人物的独白、自述,其中包括五个家庭成员(丈夫、两儿、两女)、女管家、女管家的情人——司机;他(她)们对玛丽亚的出走都侃侃谈出各自的想法和心理活动。通过这些独白,作者不仅刻画了口述者各自的性格、特征和思想感情,而且从更高的意义上揭示了西方社会的家庭伦理和人际关系,特别是具有一定的普遍现实意义的“代沟”问题。尤为值得一提的是:玛丽亚作为潜在的女主人公,却始终没有直接与读者对话,她的形象完全是从每个口述者的独白中侧面反映出来的,这种反衬笔法倒使她的形象更加生动、深刻,由此也可看出作者描绘人物的功力。小说的结尾则有意留给读者去揣摩、回味。作者曾多次来华,是中国人民的老朋友。最近,作者又拟来华拍摄大型历史故事片《利玛窦》,为此曾花费大量时间和精力,搜集、查考有关史料,目前电影脚本业已完成,正式筹备开拍。
