2000年10月21日,武汉市砺志中学揭牌仪式隆重举行。砺志中学的前身为江汉区工读学校,在市委、市政府大力开展学校周边治安环境整治的工作中,1999年10月市教委将学校收归本委直接管理,并投入资金140余万元对原校进行了彻底维修和改造。学校对有严重不良行为学生的教育、矫治工作,受到社会各界的充分肯定和支持。
