记者张狄报道 AMD公司于2月27日与IBM公司达成一项为期两年的微处理器制造协议,由IBM公司从今年第三季度开始为AMD公司在美国德州的Fab 25工厂提供晶圆片,此举将提高AMD公司AMD-K6CPU的产量。本报记者在获悉此讯后采访了AMD公司北京办事处张权先生,他表示此举对于AMD来说是件好事,有助于K6产量的提高,意味着K6处理器在市场上份额的提高。至于未来是只会生产K6还是K6与K7等产品并重尚不可知。现在已经有IBM和Compaq两大公司在家用消费型PC和低干1000美元的PC产品线上应用K6 CPU。虽然AMD公司已经开始全面采用0.25微米技术,但有消息说它的晶圆片成品率较低影响了CPU整体的出货量。由IBM公司为AMD提供晶圆片可以缓解晶圆片供货不足的情况。据悉,两家公司此次签约不会影响到IBM公司为Cyrix公司生产CPU的合约,即IBM公司将既为Cyrix也为AMD生产CPU。
