铁路运输部门采用计算机是始于60年代初期,七五期间铁路的计算机应用有了很快的发展。七五期间全路拥有各种计算机的数量超过六五期间的数倍。目前全国铁路共拥有600多台中、小型电子计算机,有20000多台微型机和4000多台汉字终端设备,主要分布在铁道部、铁路局、铁路分局三级计算中心和编组站、货运站及财务、统计等部门。 用电子计算机进行铁路运输管理就是要在数万公里的铁路线上,加速机车和车辆的周转,从而提高铁路运输效率,满足国民经济发展对铁路运输的需要。由
