SUDIKE, UNFPA Executive Director at the 8th UNCTAD, said that Asian, non-state and Latin American countries are the fastest-growing areas in the world. She said that the world’s population now exceeds 5.4 billion and an annual increase of 97 million people is expected to reach 6 billion by 1998, 8.5 billion by 2025 and 10 billion by 2050.
