在伦敦奥运会上,华大学子勇夺2金1铜,林丹成为卫冕羽毛球男单奥运冠军第一人,两位首次参加奥运会的新锐中,李雪芮搞得女单桂冠,谌龙夺得男单铜牌。汪鑫因脚踝扭伤而不得不退赛,与奥运铜牌失之交臂。林丹、谌龙、汪鑫、李雪芮4人均为华侨大学学生,谌龙、汪鑫、李雪芮就读本科,林丹则为硕士研究生。群星璀璨的华侨大学羽毛球队,实力强劲,荣获教育部“高水平羽毛球运动队”的称号,是福建省目前唯一获此称号的羽毛球运动队。华侨大学已连续两届代表中国大学生羽毛球队参加世界大学生羽毛球比赛,并获得第10届和第11届混合团体赛冠军。
