迟浩田,1929年7月生于山东招远。1944年入伍,1945年入抗大一分校学习,1946年加入中国共产党。解放战争时期,历任连队支书,营部书记,连副政治指导员、政治指导员,营副政治指导员等职。1950年参加抗美援朝,任营政治教导员。1952年回国,任团政治处副主任、主任。1958年入军事学院学习。1961年后历任“济南第一团”政治委员、师政治部主任、师副政治委员、军政治部副主任、师政治委员等职。1971年任解放军报社党的核心小组成员。1973年任北京军区副政治委员。粉碎江青集团后,任人民日报社负责人。1977年任解放军副总参谋长兼总参谋部政治部主任。1985年任济南军区政治委员。1987年11月任解放军总参谋长。1993年3月任国务委员兼国防部长。1995年9月任中央军委副主席。1988年被授予上将军衔。是第二、三、七、八、九届全国人大代表。中共第十二、十三、十四、十五届中央委员,第十五届中央政治局委员。
Chi Hao Tian, born in July 1929 in Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province. Joined the army in 1944, 1945 into the freshman college, in 1946 to join the Chinese Communist Party.
