历史给我们的最好的东西就是它所激起的热情。——歌德1985年美术思潮在湖北武汉发生,第一本介绍中国当代艺术的刊物《美术思潮》创立。1987年,《美术思潮》停刊,1993年,部分原主创人员策划《美术文献》。刊物由湖北美术出版社与湖北美术家协会联合主办,彭德、鲁虹、刘明相继出任主编。《美术文献》每期由国内外批评家、策展人提出一个学术主题,研究当代艺术现象,推介艺术家,同时刊载作品、访谈,手稿、图式背景等资料,在当年形成了独特的编辑范例。通过几代编辑者的工作,《美术文献》杂志保持客观的学术立场,以“学术性”“文
