选择油桐优良单株,建立良种繁育基地,是逐步实现油桐生产良种化,达到油桐优质、高产、稳产的重要措施之一.油桐在我国分布广,地理生态类型较多;同时,油桐是雌雄同株异花授粉植物,天然杂交后变异较大,这就使地理产区之间,类型之间和个体之间存在很大变异.因此,在栽培多年的油桐林中,选出一批抗寒高产的优良单株,经复选、决选、子代鉴定等工作,建立一批种子园和母树林,是当前油桐良种选育工作的重要任务.油桐选优是全省科研协作项目,由省林科所主持.我们在地区林副业局、县林业局的支持下,根据全国油桐科技协作组制定的“油桐优良单株选择的标准、方法及其鉴定”的试行方案,从1979年春开始在傅家边油桐林内,进行花期观察及果期调查,现已选出优树15株,具体做法如下:
