湖北籍公民孙志刚(大学毕业生),因为没有随身携带暂住证,于3月17日被广州市警方收容,之后在收容所被人打死。在中央领导的高度重视下,目前已基本查明事实经过,相关责任人已受到法律的追究。但孙志刚致死事件已引发法学界积极反应。即使在这个SARS消息几乎垄断报纸最重要版面的非典时期,孙志刚案件的典型性也有理由引起我们特别的重视。
Sun Zhigang, a citizen of Hubei Province (a college graduate), was admitted to Guangzhou Police on March 17 for not carrying a temporary residence permit and was beaten to death in a shelter. With the great attention of the central leadership, it has been basically ascertained that the facts have passed and that the relevant responsible persons have been held accountable by law. However, the death of Sun Zhigang has sparked a positive reaction from the legal community. Even though the SARS news almost monopolizes the most important section of the newspaper during the SARS period, the typical case of Sun Zhigang also has its cause for special attention.
