For several years, Phillips Lab has studied a new photographic method that is different from ordinary photographic principles, namely PD photography. PD is an abbreviation letter, it has a double meaning: First, refers to the physical development (Physical Development), another refers to the founder of this law, Philips company's Dippel's name. The results studied by Dippel and his successors have been adopted by various electronics companies. It combines the highest sensitivities with resolutions never reached before at this sensitivities. With this method, microformats, masks of less than 1 micron in width, fine metal rulers, delay lines for color television sets, and the design of any required conductive patterns can be produced. This article discusses the physico-chemical principles of this method and describes some of its industrial uses.
