1985年美国波普艺术大师劳生柏在北京展出之后,中国曾掀起波普热,但当时的波普热更多的是受到劳生柏使用现成品的影响,而大量现成品的使用,使中国现代艺术第一次走出架上绘画,成了冲击传统审美习惯的一次演习,网此波普热变成带达达意味的运动。另一方面却忽视了波普使用流通和大众化符号这个语言法则。1987年梁越创作了《城市系列》,显然梁的作品也受过劳生柏的影响,但却不像当时波普热那种达达味道,平静而旁观式的城市风景混杂地被叠印在一个平面里,
