9月,秋高气爽。我因事来到化州市平定镇。化州是古榕的故乡。平定地处化州北部老区,位于群山环抱的腹地。这里山水秀丽,人杰地灵,有许多保存良好的生态资源。当我们路过平山村时,镇党委书记陈信领我们参观了扎根在平山营那棵历经600多年沦桑的古榕树。在古榕树下,竖着一块木牌标明这棵古榕是平定镇人民政府重点保护的,它种于1382年,距今622年。我见到古榕的母体已枯朽,由气根长成21株新树体,枝繁叶茂,覆盖面积3.6亩,最大的气根胸径220厘来,高20余米。密密的树根,像龙腾飞,似蛇游动,如狗奔跑,根根交织,盘缠错纵;树叶遮天蔽日,站在树下仅见到一线天,树外太阳正照,树下秋风送爽;树须随风起舞,犹如秋风掀动少女的头发,婀娜多姿,形态万千,美哉!
