This paper uses approximate analysis to introduce several equations that select the best model of heat exchanger and use these equations to investigate the sensitivity of the cost of the refrigeration unit to the size of the heat exchanger. For evaporators and condensers, the analysis presented here is of course only the first step in producing the final engineering design.
