科威特由于大量开采和出口石油而获得巨大的财富,来自世界各地的新鲜水果、鲜花与建筑艺术一起不断地空运到这个位于波斯湾边上的沙漠国家。科威特机场大楼是丹下健三设计的,而刚刚完成的议会大厦则是悉尼歌剧院设计者伍重(Jorn Utzon)的作品。这里介绍的总理府/外交部建筑群,是芬兰著名建筑师皮埃蒂拉夫妇在70年代举行的国际设计竞赛中的中选作品。它表现了“新的阿拉伯建筑艺术”,富有地方特色。
Kuwait has gained tremendous wealth from the massive extraction and export of oil. Fresh fruits, flowers and architectural art from all over the world are continuously airlifted to this desert country on the edge of the Persian Gulf. The Kuwait Airport Building was designed by Kenzo Tange and the newly completed Parliament House is the work of the Sydney Opera House designer Jorn Utzon. The portfolio of the Prime Minister’s Office/Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented here was selected by the famous Finnish architect Pietella in the international design competition held in the 1970s. It represents “new Arab architectural art” and is full of local characteristics.
